Horsemanship Week, October 2012

I arrived a few days before Horsemanship week so was able to get in a number of good small rides. On recommendation I tried Puzzle and she is small and neat and easy to get on and off her only quirk is that sometime she will jump logs and sometimes she will step over them. So her small size came in handy when biggish logs were encountered. She also had long reins so she very politely waited till after I had scrambled over and then asked her to jump over them!

The Right Stuff

What affects me most positively about LVR is the warmth and sense of community that the staff, from the wranglers to the maintenance crew, displays at all times. In 1994, I took my family to LVR during the summer. We had a wonderful time riding, eating, and meeting new friends. I always hoped to return some day.      I would love to come back for my 4th visit soon.  We'll have to wait and see.

But there are sad changes in that most of the dogs have found homes - Trey is going back home, Rainy to a good family and Millie to a member of ex staff. I will miss them, apart from early morning hunting calls from Millie.

The lobby took…

Friday

You may have noticed that there were a few mistakes on the last blog as I was in such a hurry! On Friday morning it was the competition and there were three teams – the Lost Valley Cavalry, The Aspen Ladies and one more! We had to herd a bunch of cows (heifers and steer s– actually) around the obstacle course with a time limit and a “gate” to open. We had two separate courses and the look of concentration on our faces was amazing. Jeff gave some help and encouragement to us all…
