Give Your Child the Adventure of a Lifetime at Our Colorado Ranch
Lost Valley Ranch offers children the incredible opportunity to learn the ways of the cowboy and experience life on an authentic Colorado horse and cattle ranch. We offer a variety of fun activities and outdoor adventures separated by age groups and supervised by our team of hand-selected supervisors, each First Aid certified and well versed in the ins and outs of life on the ranch. Your kids will learn how to groom their own horses, get fitted to their own saddle, play in the barns, and breathe in the fresh mountain air while exploring our beautiful natural surroundings. From swimming and hiking to picnics and crafts, the memories your child will create will stay with them for years to come.
Age Groups
Ages 2 & Under (Babysitting)
With one-on-one babysitting services available at a nominal hourly rate, Lost Valley Ranch offers the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely morning, afternoon ride, or evening adult activities while knowing your little one is in good hands.
Ages 3 to 5
Mornings with our three-to-five-year-olds begin with a meeting with their counselors followed by a theme for the day. These themes ask them to enjoy the lives of cowboys and cowgirls, pirates, superheroes, and more. Activities and crafts are formatted in conjunction with the theme of the day. The kids will have the opportunity to ride our lead-around horse led by their child supervisor. Children who aren't interested in horseback riding will enjoy supervised activities with our counselors including fun crafts, nature walks, playground games, and storytelling.
Ages 6 to 12
For ranchers aged 6 to 12, the week begins with a meeting with the ranch family followed by preparation for their first ride of the week. They have opportunities to learn how to mount and dismount their horse properly, walk their horse in the corral, and receive riding instructions from our staff before hitting the trails for a ride. We offer four meals throughout the week that enable the children to spend time together while enjoying a kid-friendly meal. We also offer a little fishing, some games in the field, tubing down Goose Creek, a pool party, or maybe a guided hike. We promise they'll never get bored.
Teen Programs
Here at Lost Valley Ranch, we offer lots of riding and fun for our teens looking for an adventure of a lifetime. Horseback riding is offered daily and comes with numerous opportunities to receive instruction and, therefore, learn and grow in this skill. In addition to horseback riding, we offer a variety of fun and fearless activities like capture the flag, volleyball, hiking, fishing, barrel racing, and an evening dance on Tuesday night. Our fun and exciting supervisors make sure that this is a week that your teens will never forget.
Kid/Teen Supervisors
At Lost Valley Ranch, we want your children to have the time of their lives, which means pairing them with our carefully selected and qualified supervisors. Each candidate goes through a rigorous approval process that includes one-on-one, face-to-face interviews to ensure they are the right fit for our one-of-a-kind Colorado ranch. Caring, qualified, and personable, Lost Valley's team of supervisors are trained to offer a safe and memorable ranch experience for your little buckaroos, including age-appropriate activities and games that reflect the cowboy's principles of responsibility.
Planned Programs
Lost Valley Ranch offers younger guests the opportunity to become a bona fide cowboy or cowgirl — from learning to ride and groom their own horse to outdoor adventures around the ranch under the attentive care of our hand-picked supervisors. Our planned programs are designed by age group, allowing our littlest ranchers to enjoy age-appropriate activities and games while giving teenage guests the freedom to enjoy authentic Western experiences.
Meals
When it comes to chow time, children typically get to choose from the same fresh and cooked-to-order options as the adults, but we also understand that kids have certain likes and dislikes when it comes to food. Our chefs will do their best to accommodate any special diets with advanced notice and we've also been known to rely on a few favorite standbys like PB&J, grilled cheese, and pizza. And we never forget dessert!
Evening Activities
As the sun sets over the horizon and the stars begin to twinkle in the night sky, Lost Valley Ranch makes our own evening entertainment the cowboy way. Kids and adults alike love the Olde Time Melodrama presented by our friendly staff, along with rousing sing-a-longs at our campfires, ice cream socials, and cookouts held under the starry Colorado sky. Scoot your boots at square dance night or gather your family for a fun and festive hayride. Whether you are a kid or just a kid at heart, evenings are always a special time at Lost Valley Ranch.
