Fishing at Our Award-Winning Colorado Dude Ranch
Whether you’ve been fishing for years or have yet to cast for the first time, you will not be disappointed by the fishing opportunities on Lost Valley's streams and lakes. Several miles of private freestone stream are home to both wild brown and brook trout, and a two-acre stocked lake boasts five different species of trout. Orvis fly rods and reels as well as men’s and women’s specific waders and boots are available upon request.
Guided Fly Fishing Excursion
Considered to be one of the premier trout fishing destinations in the United States, the South Platte River is a mere 25-minute drive from our cattle guard. Lost Valley Ranch is privileged to hold a highly coveted permit to guide anglers in the spectacular Cheesman Canyon. For beginners hoping to learn the sport of fly fishing or for advanced anglers looking to explore new water and refine their technique, the full-day guided trip into the Canyon is not to be missed. Beginning anglers will benefit from the hands-on advice of their guides while experts can expand their skills with challenging fish throughout the day. For our guests who prefer the relaxing feeling of standing in the river or those who enjoy hiking in a scenic remote location, our experienced guides will tailor the trip to your needs and provide you with everything you’ll need for the day.
Our fly fishing rates are based per guide and are set based on a first come, first serve basis. In order to maximize the angler experience, we book a maximum of three anglers per one guide.
Due to the excursion taking place off Lost Valley Ranch property, you will need to purchase a Colorado Non-Resident, one-day fishing license to fish in these off-property waters. To purchase your fishing license, please click here.

Colorado Fly Fishing Clinic
Geared toward beginners to the sport of fly fishing, our half-day fly fishing clinic is where guests of all ages have the chance to catch their own fish. By the end of the clinic, you will learn about the fish that live on the ranch and the equipment and flies we use to catch them, as well as receive on-the-water casting instruction. Those participating in the clinic will remain onsite and finish in time to enjoy lunch with their family and friends on the ranch. The cost for our fly fishing clinic is $145 per angler.
